Strong fourth quarter lifts Lancers over Mustangs

The Lancers rode a massive second half scoring blitz to defeat the Western Mustangs in London Sunday afternoon, 77-39.
 
The win moves the Lancers to 15-7 on the season while the Mustangs fall to 5-17 on the year and outside the playoff picture.
 
GME STATS
Nyamuoch Teny led all scorers with 20 points on the day. The Mustangs were led by Maddy Horst who totaled seven.
 
Horst led all players in rebounds with 11, while Olivia Osamusali led the blue and gold with eight boards.
 
The Lancers had one of their best defensive performances of the season, holding the Mustangs to just 22.4 per cent shooting and 11 per cent from three. Windsor shot 40.5 and 25 per cent respectively.
 
GAME FLOW
The Lancers opened the game on a 7-0 run and looked like they were ready to run the Mustangs out of the gym early. Halfway through the quarter the Mustangs had had enough, calling a timeout and tying the game shortly after. The Lancers' counterpunch was immediate, and they built their lead back, leading 15-7 after one quarter. In the second, the Mustangs came back in similar fashion, tying the game at 19 halfway through the second quarter. With some hot three-point shooting, the Lancers pushed their way back out in front before the halftime, heading into halftime up 27-24.
 
In the second half Windsor sustained their lead, keeping Western to just 10 per cent from range though the third quarter, leading 46-34 heading into the fourth. In the final frame the Lancers blew the game open, climbing out to a 23 point lead with five minutes remaining in the game. The Lancers kept their foot on the gas, increasing the margin to 32 with just two and half minutes left, en route to a huge 77-39 victory.
