The Windsor Lancers defeated the Algoma Thunderbirds Saturday evening in Windsor. The blue and gold used production from everyone on the roster, winning 75-59.
Â
Following the game, Windsor bid farewell to senior and OUA three point leader
Carly Steer who was playing her last career regular season game as a Lancer.
Â
GAME STATS
Algoma's Dionna Martin led all scorers with 22 points, while the Lancers were led by
Kaylee Anagnostopoulos who dropped 15.
Â
Olivia Osamusali led the effort on the glass with nine rebounds. The Thunderbirds were led by Karina Cole who had six.
Â
The Lancers almost doubled the Thunderbird's rebounds totals, 42-22 as a team.
Â
GAME FLOW
The Lancers got off to slow start as Algoma pulled out to a slim lead thanks to Martin. Keeping Windsor in the game was their defense, forcing the Thunderbirds to make tough shots. After the first 10 minutes the Lancers were still looking for answers as they were down 20-14.
Â
In the second quarter the Lancers picked up their game with Steer hitting a couple big threes to get the blue and gold going. The hosts nabbed the lead early in the second quarter as part of the 23-11 run and went into halftime leading 37-31.
Â
In the second half, the Lancer defense forced the Thunderbirds into more bad looks and aside from Martin, not many Thunderbirds were finding success. Windsor meanwhile had five players in double digit scoring in the second half. The Lancer had offensive productions from all parts of the roster, including Anagnostopoulos, guiding Windsor to a 75-59 win on Senior's Day.
