The Lancer men's volleyball team closed out their regular season with a 3-1 (27-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18) win over the Waterloo Warriors Sunday afternoon at the St. Denis Centre.

Prior to the game, the Lancers honoured graduating seniors Jared Niziolek and all-Canadian John Moate.

GAME STATS
Pierce Johnson led the Lancer attack with 14 kills, with teammates Brad Gyemi contributing 13, and Moate with 11. Waterloo's Andrew Smondulak led the game with 16.

Bouchard led the Lancers defense with 7 digs, while Atman Rakkar led the game for the Warriors with 10.

GAME FLOW
The first frame was kept tight, with neither team building a lead larger than three points. While the Warriors had a slight edge to start the set, the blue and gold took control at the technical timeout to take it 27-25.

The back and forth continued into the second game. With the score again remaining close, the Warriors went on a five-point run, giving them the edge they needed to take the game 25-21.

Bouncing back after giving up the set, the blue and gold jumped to a quick 4-point lead in the next set. The Warrior's battled back, bringing it within one, before the Lancers went on another run, winning the match 25-20.

Windsor had all the momentum in the final frame. The Lancers jumped to the largest lead of the match, 14-7. They maintained the seven-point lead to close the set 25-18 and taking the match after four sets.

UP NEXT
The Lancers end the season with a 13-4 record to sit tied with the Western Mustangs in the OUA standings. However, the Mustangs have the tie breaker so the blue and gold will finish third overall and face the Ryerson Rams in the OUA quarter-finals on Saturday, March 2nd in Toronto at 6:00 PM.
