Entering his second year as head coach,
Ryan Mendonca will be looking to build on the success of last season when his young team made the OUA playoffs. With most of the roster returning this year the goal for the Lancers should be a return trip to the playoffs with a deeper run in mind.
Â
Entering this Saturday's home opener against Algoma, the Lancers who sit 0-1-1 on their season, will not only be looking for their first win but also to replace some goal scoring. Midfielder
Celso Carapau who led the squad with six goals in 2018 is no longer in Windsor and neither is
Stefan Milidrag who scored five goal in last year's campaign. Veterans
Tanner Page and
Jonathan Agapito each found the back of the net over the weekend and look to be two of Coach Mendonca's go-tos for 2019.
Â
In the back-end Windsor will also have to replace
Greg Chac, who played over 800 minutes for the Lancers in goal last year. Newcomer
Kaneen Fells appears to be in line to replace Chac after starting in the Lancers first two contests so far this season. Â
Â
Though the roster is young the Lancers hope on venturing back to the playoffs in Mendonca's second year at the helm. If they can replace those pieces an exciting year awaits.
Â
Lancer students and fans can get their first look at this year's squad when they host Algoma on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 8:15 p.m., and then again on Sunday at 3:15pm.
