GAME FLOW
In the first set, both teams proved why they were both OUA medalists last season and OUA contenders this season keeping up the intensity early and exchanging points regularly. The biggest gap in the score was held by the Gaels when they held a 5 point lead on the Lancers at 22-17, however the Lancers managed to remained focus and battled back to force extra points in this one but ultimately the Gaels prevailed capping off Windsor 28-26 to take the first set and to lead the match 1-0.Â
Â
In the second set, it started off very similarly to the first set as both teams traded points early and it was not easy to tell which side was going to pull away later in the set. The equally matched teams played well throughout this set but ultimately the Gaels would be the ones to finish off the set taking it 25-22 over Windsor going up 2-0 in the match.Â
Â
For the third set, the Gaels seemed hungry to get a victory in Windsor, doing a great job of tuning out a loud and proud Windsor crowd. Their strong focus emulated their performance on the court as they continued to keep up their pace against an equally strong Lancers squad. However, the Lancers held their own once again ensuring things did not get out of hand as once again the set scores remained close throughout this one like the previous two sets. In the end though the Gaels appeared to be the team more in control throughout this contest as they were able to close out the Lancers in three sets and complete their big two-game weekend road trip with two victories including the huge sweep over the No. 10 U SPORTS nationally ranked Lancers to add towards their campaign.Â
