Windsor doubles up on Western in London

Box Score In their final road game of 2021, the Lancer men's hockey team traveled up the 401 today to play the Western Mustangs in London. Windsor would get the better of the host Mustangs, coming away with important 6-3 win and improving their record to 5-2.

STATS
Noah Giesbrecht had a day, saving 33 out of the 36 shots that came his way.

Lancer goal scorers included Brady Pataki, John Parker-Jones, and Hunter Holmes while Ryan Shaw, Mason Kohn, and Ben Assad were able to record a goal and an assist.

GAMEFLOW
Giesbrecht started the game off being bombarded by a plethora of Western shots, all of which he saved with ease. Both teams would get their fair share of chances throughout the first period. Starting defensemen Will Ennis and Ryan Barbosa played a large role in the Lancers ability to prevent the Mustangs from scoring.

By the second period, both teams were still looking for a goal. Lancers Brady Hinz and John Wesley were able to have some good looks at goal, however, nothing was hitting the back of the net. Windsor would find their first goal just past the midway mark of the second period, as a deflected Ben Assad shot was hit by Holmes for the first goal of the game. Windsor would go on to find two more quick back-to-back goals over the next two minutes by way of Kohn and Parker-Jones to take a 3-0 lead. The Mustangs would find a goal near the end of the period, making the game 3-1 going into the third.

The Mustangs scored a goal early in the third making it a one goal game. The Mustangs were in comeback mode, however, the Lancers were not about to let their lead slip away. Windsor continued to display great defensive ability while also pressing for another goal. The Lancers fourth goal came in the twelfth minute of the period on a Brady Pataki breakaway that was assisted by Jaydon Fetter and Ryan Shaw. The Mustangs would find a goal with only three minutes left to play, which the Lancers would respond to by scoring two of their own. Shaw was the goal scorer after an assist from Wesley, the second and last goal came from Assad on an open net.
