The Lancer softball team qualified for the OUS postseason after going 5-1 this weekend to close out their regular season. This is the first time the team has qualified for the playoff tournament since 2017
Â
Windsor was 3-9 two weeks ago and sat in last place in the west division. However, hot bats and strong pitching over their last eight games moved the blue and gold into a third place finish in the hotly contested west division.
Â
The team was led by captain
Megan Lozinski in a lockdown pitching performance, going 3-0 from the mound. Lozinski threw 150 pitches in an 11-inning win, where 99 of those pitches were called strikes.
Â
CaptainsÂ
Cylee Hickey and
McKay Colombe ignited the Lancer offence as they pounded long balls and base shots.
Â
"It was truly a total team effort by a young group of athletes led by the veteran captains," said head coach
Paul Scott. "I can't wait to see what we do next weekend at the OUS championships."
Â
Windsor will head to Waterloo for the provincial championships, October 22-23, 2022. Stay tuned to goLancers.ca or the Lancer Softball social media pages for more information as it becomes available.
