GAME FLOW
The Lancers went into the first quarter with high-energy to set the tone for the start of the game against the host Thunderwolves. Both teams went up and down the court, making offensive responses to each other. Windsor pulled the lead ahead in the last couple minutes of the quarter with two 3-pointers; one by Simon and Kennedy in the final seconds. The blue and gold held a 21-18 advantage over Lakehead.
Â
In the second quarter, the Thunderwolves started to find their rhythm and the Lancers could feel the pressure being put on. They continued to battle and match Lakehead with offensive responses and quick turnovers. Simon made the best of the offensive opportunities and openings he could find getting a couple 3-pointers. However, with less than two minutes remaining, Lakehead got their first lead in the game and Windsor trailed 39-33 at halftime.Â
Â
The third quarter put the Lancers to work on the defensive side as the Thunderwolves were making efforts to build upon their lead. With good passes, the Lancers were slowly making plays to close the gap. To finish off the quarter, Grant got a smooth 3-pointer from the far wing but still needed to make impacts and play with aggression if they wanted to narrow the Thunderwolves lead. The blue and gold remained down, 62-51 at the end of the third.
Â
In the final quarter of the game, Windsor was really put to the test as Lakehead had the support of the home crowd and would make huge impacts with multiple steals for turnovers and several dunks by wing, Dylan Morrison. With only a couple minutes left, the Lancers could not match the Thunderwolves and they sealed a 91-73 loss.Â
