Department of Athletics announces major award nominees

The Department of Athletics and Recreational Services is pleased to announce their major award nominees for the 2023-24 Windsor Lancers Evening of Excellence.
 
The winners will be announced at the Lancers' annual awards banquet which will take place on Tuesday April 2, 2024, at the St. Clair Centre of the Arts.
 
The nominees for University of Windsor female rookie of the year are Grace Elford from track & field, Leah Tate from women's basketball, Claire Pozzi from women's soccer, and Jacqueline Pento from softball.
 
On the men's side, rookie of the year nominees includes Matteo Tedesco from baseball, Jason Rushatsi from football, Quintin Greenidge from men's volleyball, and Zach Clarke from track & field.
 
The super sophomore awards are presented to the outstanding female and male athletes in their second year of eligibility. The female nominees are Kali Grootenboer from women's basketball, Cadence Petitclerc from women's hockey, Aliah Admans from women's volleyball, and Harley Martin from track & field.
 
The male super sophomore nominees are Weagbe Mombo football/track & field, Yohann Sam men's basketball, Aaron Shaw from men's hockey, and Colin Dawson from track & field.  
 
The Captain's Trophy is presented to the male and female captains who demonstrate outstanding leadership both on and off the field while also making a significant contribution to the overall success of the team.
 
Female nominees include Ema Kralik from track & field, Nicole Woelk from women's volleyball, McKay Colombe from softball, and Jessica Gribbon from women's hockey. Male nominees include Mason Kohn from men's hockey, George Una from football, Gustavo Siqueira from men's volleyball and Caleb Keeling from track & field.
 
The Gino Fracas Coach of the Year category has three outstanding nominees this year. They include Jean-Paul Circelli from football, Colin Inglis from track & field, and Francine Stadler from softball.
 
The prestigious DeMarco Awards are presented yearly to the top female and male student-athletes who best combine academics and athletics. The female nominees include Jaden Cherry from women's hockey, Yaila Sealy from women's volleyball, and Kat Campana from women's soccer.
 
The male nominees for the DeMarco Award include Darian Koskie from men's volleyball, Jacob Fitzpatrick from cross country/track & field, and Ben Tilson from track & field.
 
The Banner Shield is presented annually to the University of Windsor's outstanding female athlete of the year.
 
This year's three nominees for the Banner Shield include Mandy Brunet from track & field, Megan Lozinski from softball, and Kailyn Robertson from women's soccer.
 
The Olympic Shield is presented annually to the University of Windsor's outstanding male athlete of the year.
 
The nominees for the Olympic Shield as University of Windsor male athlete of the year are Kolade Amusan from football, Frankie Facchineri from men's soccer, and A.J. Stanat from track & field.
 
The award winners will be announced this Tuesday, April 2nd at the Evening of Excellence as part of the Windsor Lancers 2023-24 Evening of Excellence.
