Vallee & Langlois to be inducted into WESHOF

Lancer women's basketball head coach Chantal Vallee and Lancer women's basketball alumna Miah Marie Langlois will be inducted into the Windsor Essex Sports Hall of Fame this October as part of the class of 2024.

Vallee and Langois will be inducted alongside other local greats including the NFL's Luke Willson, Tyrone Crawford and Josh Bourke, former NHL star Steve Ott, and local women's hockey Olympian Meghan Agosta.

Head coach of the blue and gold since 2005, Vallee grew the Lancer program into a national contender and led her team to five consecutive national championships (from 2011-15), tying a league record.

During the 2012-13 season, Vallee's team became the first in OUA history to go undefeated (21-0) since the league's expanded schedule. She made more history in 2018 when she took a sabbatical to become the first female general manager and head coach of the Hamilton Honey Badgers, a men's professional team in the Canadian Elite League.

Through the years, Canada Basketball has sought Vallee's skills as an assistant coach at the junior and senior levels. She has coached at two World University Games, a World Championship and a FIBA championship.

Prior to arriving in Windsor from her home province of Quebec, Vallee spent three seasons transforming the basketball program at Vanier College. She served as an assistant at both McGill and University of British Columbia, and she was head coach of a Quebec provincial team.

A published author, Vallee also works as a color commentator and analyst for CBC, CTV and TSN during the Olympics and NBA playoffs.

Already an inductee in the University of Windsor's Alumni Sports Hall of Fame in 2022, Langlois grew up in the Windsor area and joined the Lancers in 2009 after graduating from Catholic Central Secondary School. Throughout her time leading the Lancer defense and offense, the blue & gold won four national championships and three provincial championships.

Making five appearances at the national championships over her career, Langlois was named tournament MVP three times and was named the CIS defensive player of the year for three straight seasons. After graduating with a business degree from UWindsor, Langlois joined Canada's senior women's program.

With Team Canada, she helped the team to a pair of gold medal finished at the Pan American Games and FIBA Americas Cup in 2015. In 2016, Langlois donned the maple leaf for Team Canada at the Rio Olympics, and in 2017, captured another gold medal at the FIBA AmeriCup. Langlois also played professionally in Sweden and Russia before retiring in 2019.

The 42nd Windsor-Essex Sports Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 5th at the Ciociaro Club of Windsor. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
