Baseball ends season with OUA Far West Regionals berth

The University of Windsor Lancers baseball team saw their 2025 season come to a close at the OUA Far West Regionals over the weekend. The Lancers won one of three games in a tournament with the Waterloo Warriors, Western Mustangs, and Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday (Oct. 3) and Saturday (Oct. 4).

FRIDAY
The Lancers kicked off the weekend with an 8-6 win over the Western Mustangs on Friday morning. With Western taking a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth, the Lancers scored three runs to pick up the win and open the tournament on a high note.

Jack Marcotte led the offense with three hits, two RBI, and a double. Kyle Jones and Nick Philbin drove in two runs each, and Jones and Justin Kelly-Boxe each picked up two hits. William Cockram and Lucas Smith knocked in two more Lancer runs.

Isaac Harris had a strong performance on the mound for Windsor, pitching 6.2 innings, allowing just three runs while striking out two on 99 pitches, and picking up the win in the process. Oliver Gamble closed out the game, picking up the remaining seven outs.

The Lancers momentum ran out in the second game as they fell 14-4 to Waterloo. The Warriors were powered by a six-run fifth inning.

SATURDAY
On Saturday the Lancers fell 19-7 to Laurier, ending their hopes of advancing to the regional final. Laurier's seven-run first inning proved to be too much for Windsor to overcome. Philbin, Cockram, and Jaxson Noella had two hits each, including a home run for Philbin.

Philbin and Cockram had two RBI each, while Noella and Lucas Smith each drove in one run.

James Jeun pitched four innings, followed by an inning of work from Hamish MacLeod. Ethan Lawhead and Kaden Vecherik combined to pitch the ninth inning.

UP NEXT
This concludes the 2025 Lancers season, as they went 4-9 (W-L) on the season. Windsor will look towards having a productive offseason in preparation for the fall 2026 season.
