Lancer men's basketball Head Coach Chris Cheng led the U16 Team Canada boys to their fifth silver medal at the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup Championship in early June at the tournament in Juarez, Mexico. 

After going undefeated in the group round against Venezuela, Brazil, and Puerto Rico, Team Canada faced Mexico in the quarter-finals. They won 96-70 to secure qualification for next summer's FIBA U17 Men's Basketball World Cup 2026. The red and white then faced off against Venezuela again in the semi-finals. Canada won a tightly contested match 78-65 to send them to the finals against the United States. Despite a strong second half, the Americans came away with the victory and sealed the deal for the Canadian silver medal. The Canadian men's program has now medaled at every edition of the event since its inception in 2009.
