Women's Basketball Adds Recruits for 2025-26 Season

The Lancer women's basketball team and head coach Chantal Vallée are excited to announce their 2025-26 recruiting class for this upcoming season. The Lancers welcome 4 new athletes this season and they are expected to make an immediate impact on the program.

The first recruit for the year is Kaylee Williams of Montreal, Quebec. Kaylee is a 5'4 combo guard who comes to the team as an experienced post-secondary athlete. She formerly played for the University of Toronto after completing two successful years at John Abbott College. Kaylee led her college team to a conference championship title with a career game-high of 34 points. As a tenacious defender, Kaylee will add a layer of depth to the Lancer roster with her ability to get stops on defense and be a threat to score on the offensive end.

"I chose to study law at the University of Windsor because of its values of justice, ethics, and equity, which deeply resonate with me as a person of color." Says Williams about her decision to come to Windsor. "I also have many friends on the team who have spoken highly of Chantal. Not only is she a brilliant coach, but she also encourages us to be strong athletes, scholars, and women. I'm eager to give back to the team by sharing what I've learned through years of experience in the OUA—with passion, integrity, and purpose. Go Lancers!"

Maliyah Ogorek from Sarnia, Ontario is a 5'7 guard who comes to the team from St. Patrick's Catholic High School where she was the team's 2024 and 2025 MVP. Maliyah also had an impressive 2024-25 season with the Windsor-St. Clair JUEL team, earning all-defensive team, first team all-star and May 2025 player of the month.

Maliyah says, "I chose the University of Windsor because I could feel right away that this was a place where I could truly grow—both as a student and as an athlete. From the beginning, the coaching staff made me feel welcomed and supported, and I had already heard great things about the team culture. Watching how united the team was, and how much pride there is in being a Lancer, made me want to be part of something bigger. Windsor's strong Human Kinetics program was the final piece that made this the perfect fit."

The next recruit for the season is local Abby Cullion from Lakeshore. Abby is a 5'7 guard who recently finished seasons with St. Anne's high school and the Windsor-St. Clair JUEL team. Abby achieved WECSSAA first team all-star, JUEL all-star, and was named MVP of her high school team in 2024 and 2025.

"I chose to come to Windsor because the culture—not just within the team but throughout the entire community—is truly amazing." Says Cullion. "Everyone comes together to support the program, and it's really special to witness. I grew up watching the Lancers every chance I got. I looked up to the players and dreamed of one day wearing that jersey. I especially enjoyed getting to know Coach Chantal and seeing how she develops her players and builds strong relationships. That really inspired me."

Mackenzie Fineman from Newmarket, Ontario is a 5'8 point guard/shooting guard. She attended Orangeville prep school and also played for the IEM G-elite club team. Mackenzie was the 2024 G – Elite defensive player of the year, first team all-star and MVP of the league. She was also awarded the 2025 Orangeville prep hustle award.

Mackenzie says: "I chose the University of Windsor because I saw it as a place where I could grow both as a student and an athlete. The strong academic program, supportive culture, dedicated coaching staff, and the opportunity to compete at a high level made it an easy decision and the perfect fit for the next chapter of my journey. I hope to deepen my understanding of coaching and specifically wanted to learn under Coach Vallée while pursuing studies in Kinesiology with a focus on coaching."

"I'm thrilled to welcome Maliyah, Abby, Kaylee, and Mackenzie to the Lancer family.", stated Vallée. "Each of these young women brings something special—athletically and personally. Maliyah is a dynamic defender with a relentless work ethic; Abby is a fierce competitor with deep roots in the Windsor community; Kaylee adds veteran leadership and a defensive spark; and Mackenzie is a high-IQ guard with grit and vision. Beyond their talent, they are strong, thoughtful, and driven individuals who are eager to grow. I'm excited to help them reach their full potential—not only as athletes but as students and women of purpose. Our program, beyond basketball, is about building futures, and I can't wait to walk alongside them on that journey."

Welcome to the blue & gold and we look forward to seeing you on the court this season!
