Three University of Windsor Lancers football players will continue their pursuit of a Canadian Football League (CFL) career after strong performances at the CFL Invitational Combine on Friday, March 6 at the University of Waterloo's Feridun Hamdullahpur Field House in Waterloo, Ont.
Tyriq Quayson,
Liam Talbot, and
Ethan John were named as three of eight total players that were granted an opportunity to join other draft-eligible prospects at the CFL Combine in Edmonton later this month due to their outstanding all-around performances at the Invitational event.
Quayson had the best vertical jump on the day, reaching a mark of 35.5 inches. Fellow Lancer receiver
Colby Ginn tied for second with a 35 inch leap, and Talbot reached 34 inches.
Talbot was the fastest out of all prospects in the 40-yard dash, coming in at 4.51 seconds. Quayson placed third with a 4.54 second time. Ginn (4.57s) and John (4.59s) were not far behind, both also placing within the top ten.
Ginn was the top Lancer in the 3-cone drill, placing fifth overall with a 7.03 second mark, and Talbot came in ninth at 7.12s.
The Lancers strength and conditioning training paid off in the broad jump as well, with Ginn and John tied for third at 10' 1.5".
John's strong day continued with the short shuttle drill, as his 4.15s time was the second best at the combine. Ginn's 4.22s time tied for seventh.
Talbot and John had the tenth- and eleventh-best bench press numbers, getting 24 and 23 reps, respectively.
