The University of Windsor Lancers women's and men's cross country teams had a strong start to their 2026 season at the Vigars & Salter Western Invitational on Saturday, Sep. 27 in London, Ont., with the women winning and the men placing fourth.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
The Lancer women opened the season on a high note with a first-place finish for the first time in the history of the meet. The blue and gold recorded 49 points as a team, 10 ahead of second-place McMaster.
Windsor was led by
Alyshia Alkerton, who earned the top spot individually by setting a meet record with a 28:42.2 time.
Samara Quanz followed with a 28:56.0 time for second place.
Sian Kniaziew placed 13th with a time of 30:10.9.
Ella Heredi's mark of 30:36.8 earned her 16th place.
Natalie Adam (30:48.3),
Nicole Seagris (30:48.7),
Maren Kasunich (30:55.9), and
Natalie Fortier (31:08.5) rounded out the top 25.
MEN'S RESULTS
The Lancer men finished fourth overall on Saturday, earning 118 team points, a comfortable 93 points ahead of fifth-place Toronto.
Andreas Pardalis led the group with a 25:35.66 time for 12th place. Three total Lancers ranked in the top 25, as
James Wheeler placed 23rd (25:50.5) and
Max Fazecash placed 25th (25:55.6).
Samuel Rohr (26:00.4),
Gavin Stafford (26:02.1), and
Jeremy Pinho (26:44.5) rounded out the top 50 spots.

The Lancers return to action on Friday, October 2 in South Bend, Indiana where they will race at the Notre Dame Invitational.
