Box Score The Lancer Women's Basketball team was upset 66-61 by the #9 ranked Toronto Varsity Blues in their home opener on Friday night at the St. Denis Centre.

On Friday, both teams came out with intensity in what was a very evenly matched opening quarter. The two teams traded the lead throughout with Toronto holding the 16-15 edge after one.
In the second, Windsor began to work the ball inside to forward
Jessica Clemencon, who converted on a number of post moves in the paint. They also got some hot outside shooting from guard
Bojana Kovacevic as they built a seven point lead, 34-27 at the break.
In the third, the Lancers would extend their lead to double digits as Clemencon continued to make shots inside.
However, the Varsity Blues hung tough thanks to some strong post play of their own from Nicki Schutz. Toronto was able to cut the Lancer lead to six heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the short bench finally got to the Lancers as Toronto was able to erase the six point deficit and tie the game with five minutes remaining.
The Varsity Blues would go on to outscore the Lancers 20-9 in the final quarter as they earned the hard fought 66-61 victory.
For the Lancers, Bojana Kovacevic and
Jessica Clemencon led the way with 18 points each. Iva Peklova added 10 points. Windsor was hurt by turnovers in the game as they 25 compared to Toronto's 13.
Windsor will look to get back on track on Saturday night when they host the Ryerson Rams at 6pm at the St. Denis Centre.
