The Windsor Lancers are pleased to announce that Men's Volleyball head coach Huub Kemmere has been named the OUA Men's Volleyball Coach of the Year, as announced by today by Ontario University Athletics.
Kemmere led the Lancers to a 12-8 record and fourth place overall in the OUA standings. This is a five game improvement over Windsor's record in 2008-09, which earned them their first home playoff game since 2004.
In his eleventh season with the Lancers, Kemmere is a multiple winner of the award, his last coming six years ago in 2004.
In addition to Coach Kemmere's award, Lancer middle Josh Edwards was named an OUA first team all-star, along with Ryan Le who was named to the all-rookie team.
Edwards emerged this year as a premium player and scorer on the young Lancer squad. The second year Human Kinetics major led the Lancers with 3.26 points per game, placing him 15th overall in the OUA.
A two-sport athlete in volleyball and track & field, Edwards' solid play and blocking skills (69 total, 6th in OUA) helped Windsor earn their first home playoff berth in six seasons.
Le finished his solid rookie campaign averaging 1.65 points per game, placing him as the leading rookie on the Lancer squad.
