Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team was eliminated from the playoffs on Friday night following their 3-1 defeat to the Western Mustangs at Windsor Arena.
The Mustangs clinched the best of three series following their 5-2 victory at home on Wednesday night in game one.
Josh Gaynor scored for the Lancers while Geoff Killing, Aaron Snow and Yashar Farmanara earned Western's goals on Friday night.
The Lancers notched the first goal of the contest after Mark Thorburn's shot was blocked by Mustangs netminder Keyvan Hunt but Gaynor jumped on the rebound and snuck a shot past Hunt to take a 1-0 lead.
Windsor continued to press early in the first period and had a number of quality scoring chances that were pushed aside by Hunt.
Western countered Windsor's goal as Geoff Killing streaked down the right wing and wired a shot through Lancer Jim Watt's legs only two minutes later to tie the game heading into the second frame.
The Mustangs would take the lead in the second period after cycling the puck down low, Aaron Snow released a shot through the traffic in front of the net and past Lancer netminder Jim Watt for a 2-1 lead.
The third period was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams with all players throwing their weight into big hits and fast plays.
The Lancers pressed hard late in the game looking for the equalizer but weren't able to beat Hunt, who made 37 saves in the contest.
Western was able to seal the victory with 30 seconds remaining in the game as Yashar Farmanara netted an empty net goal to give his team the 3-1 victory.
