The Windsor Lancers are pleased to announce that Dennis Fairall has been named the OUA Men's & Women's OUA Track & Field Coach of the year, as announced by Ontario University Athletics.
Noelle Montcalm has also been named the OUA Female Track MVP for her strong performance at the OUA Championships last weekend in Toronto, while Mike Miller captured the Male Field MVP for his record breaking performance at meet.
Fairall captured the Bob Vigars award as the men's coach of the year for the 18th time in his career as the Lancer men took home their twelfth straight OUA championship title. Fairall also took home the Sue Wise award as the women's coach of the year for the 15th time as the Lancer women captured their fifth provincial title in six seasons.
Montcalm, a fourth year Human Kinetics student, took home three gold medals at the championships with wins in the 60m hurdles, 300m, and 4200m relay. She added a silver to her collection with a second place finish in the 60m.
Heading into the CIS Championships next week in Windsor, she is ranked first in Canada in both the hurdles and relay.
Miller broke a 30 year old OUA record in the shot put with a throw of 16.93m. The previous record of 16.92m was the second oldest in the OUA and was set by Martino Catalano from the University of Toronto in 1980.
Miller also placed fourth overall in the men's weight throw with a throw of 15.08m.
