Kemmere to return for 20th and final season in 2010-11

Lippert promoted to Associate Head Coach

Huub Kemmere, Head Coach of the Windsor Lancers Men's Volleyball team has announced he will return for one final year before retiring from coaching after the 2010-11 season.

The long-time coach of the Lancers, Kemmere will coach his 20th year of OUA Volleyball at the University of Windsor before stepping down after the season.

Throughout his career, Huub has earned OUA Men's Volleyball Coach of the Year honours on five different occasions, including most recently in 2009-10.

Last season, led the Lancers to a 12-8 record and fourth place overall in the OUA standings. They also earned their first home playoff game since 2004, narrowly losing a five-set thriller to the Guelph Gryphons in the OUA Quarter-Finals.

We're pleased Huub will return for his 20th year and we're all appreciative of his many contributions to Lancer Volleyball over the years,” said Director of Athletics Gord Grace. “He has provided valuable leadership and experience to our players and our staff and we look forward to a great year in 2010-11.”

In addition, Grace also announced the promotion of assistant coach Shawn Lippert to Associate Head Coach, effective immediately.

Lippert has made a big impact on the Lancer Men's Volleyball program over the past few seasons, especially in the areas of recruiting and player development.

“Shawn has done a terrific job helping build our men's volleyball program,” added Grace. “As a result, he has been elevated to Associate Head Coach and will be taking on more coaching responsibilities with the team."
