WINDSOR, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers men's football team will look to close out the regular season at the .500 mark in their final conference match on the road this weekend against the Waterloo Warriors.
The Lancers (3-4) can clinch a playoff berth with a victory on Saturday against Waterloo (1-6), who will be looking to play spoiler after officially being eliminated from post-season contention. Windsor has dropped its last two matches against nationally-ranked squads from Queen's and the defending CIS champion McMaster Marauders.
Windsor put up a spirited effort against the Marauders last Saturday in Hamilton, tallying two interceptions off McMaster quarterback Kyle Quinlan, which were his first picks of the season. However, six Lancers turnovers and an offensive surge by the Marauders in the second half allowed the hosts to maintain their unblemished record and No. 1 ranking in the CIS Top Ten poll.

Austin Kennedy (Windsor) holds top spot in the nation for passing yards per game (338.6) and is second in touchdown passes with 16. Teammate
Jordan Brescacin (Tecumseh, Ont.) is averaging 125.7 receiving yards per contest , placing him second amongst CIS players. His seven touchdown passes puts him on top of the nation in that category. Fellow receiver Evan Psczconak (Amherstburg, Ont.) has also put together a solid season going into the Lancers' final contest, averaging over 90 yards per game and collecting five touchdowns.
Windsor will face a Warriors squad that has managed just a single victory this season, a 23-22 triumph over York on September 22, and has gotten shelled the past three contests against playoff-bound teams in the conference. Wide receiver Nick Anapolsky has been a bright spot for the Warriors this season, garnering 112.4 receiving yards per game, good enough for third in the country, and four touchdown passes so far. Jamie Cook has averaged 102.6 passing yards per game from under centre, including four touchdown passes and six picks.
The last time these two squads met was last fall when the Lancers recorded a 37-13 win on the road on September 24.
The Lancers and Warriors will do battle in the final week of the CIS football regular season this Saturday in Waterloo, Ont., with kick-off set for 1:00 p.m.
