Alyssa Baldin named captain of Women's Hockey Team

Alyssa Baldin has been named the new captain of the Women's Hockey team.
Jim Hunter, Head Coach of the Windsor Lancers Women's Hockey team is pleased to announce that forward Alyssa Baldin has been named the new team captain for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Baldin is entering her fifth season of eligibility and second year with the Lancers after transferring from Wayne State University in 2011.

Widely considered to be one of the most skilled players in the OUA, Alyssa was off to a tremendous start last year before an injury halfway through the season cut her year short.

In only 14 games in 2011-12, she registered 10 goals and 15 points, which still placed her in the top 20 in the province in goal scoring.

Prior to arriving at Windsor, Baldin played three seasons with the Wayne State University Warriors where she also served as team captain in 2010-11. That season, she finished in the top ten in goal scoring in the CHA conference while also finishing seventh all-time in scoring in Wayne State history with 57 points.

Coach Hunter believes Alyssa will be another tremendous captain for the Lancers.

"We are very pleased to name Alyssa as our new captain for the 2012-13 season,” commented Coach Hunter. “She is a veteran player with a lot of experience and will be a great leader for our team going forward. Much like Candace, she is a great representative of our program and someone our younger players can look up to."
