The men's soccer team at the University of Windsor will open the OUA playoffs Wednesday at home while the women's team will start their title run on the road.
Â
The Lancers, the men's No. 4 seed, will host the No. 5-seed Western Mustangs in the OUA West quarter-final at Alumni Field at 7:30 p.m.
Â
Windsor (7-3-6) recorded one win and one tie in the regular season against Western (7-6-3).
Â
"With just three losses in the whole season, the expectations are high," coach
Steve Hart said.
Admission to the Windsor game is free.
Â
The No. 5-ranked women will travel to Guelph Wednesday to face the No, 4-ranked Gryphons in the division quarter-final at 6 p.m. Windsor (6-7-3) split the regular-season series with Guelph (7-6-3).
Â
"The last time we played we had a couple injured players and we did not play up to our potential," coach Angelo Verardi said.
Â
"We have been getting some good results lately and the ladies are starting to play more as a unit on the defensive as well as the offensive side of the ball."
Â
Verardi said they hope to control the midfield play with Giulia Barile and Jaclyn Faraci and stop the Gryphons from getting to the goal with a back four anchored by Laura Lecce and Courtney Fleming.Â
