Cheng lands Justace Byam for 2019-20

Windsor Lancers men's basketball head coach Chris Cheng is pleased to announce the commitment of Justace Byam.

Byam, a native of Brampton, Ontario joins the Lancers from Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Utah.

The 6'1 guard spent the past two seasons with Wasatch and was named the Wasatch Academy MVP both years, in addition to being named to the Utah all-state team both seasons.

While with Wasatch, the future business major averaged 22 points, 6 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game over two years and this past April, the team qualified for the Geico National Championships where they were seeded sixth overall and advanced to the tournament quarter-finals.

Prior to attending Wasatch, Byam stared at Mayfield Secondary School where he was a Peel first-team all-star.

Coach Cheng is  excited to be adding another talented guard to his roster for next season.

"Justace is a pass first point guard that really cares about getting his teammates involved," commented Cheng. "He is a competitor, communicator, and most of all, a solid individual. I am really exited for what he will bring to our program for the years to come."

Byam is the fifth student-athlete to commit to the Lancers since Coach Cheng was named head coach back in May and is looking forward to playing for him next year at the University of Windsor.

"I'm very eager to return to Canada and continue my basketball career and my studies at the University of Windsor," said Byam. "I'm looking forward to being a part of the Windsor Basketball program and helping them achieve their goal of winning a national championship."

The Lancers open their OUA conference schedule at home against the Western Mustangs on Wednesday, October 23rd at the St. Denis Centre. Season tickets for the season can be purchased at www.goLancers.ca/tickets.
