Men's Volleyball head coach James Gravelle is pleased to announce the recruiting class for the 2020-21 season.
 
Coming to study at the University and play for the blue and gold in the fall are LaSalle's Chad Kristalovich, Ingersoll native Colin Hutchison, and international recruits Gustavo Siqueira and Davi Urtiga who both hail from Brazil.
 
A 6'1 outside hitter, Kristalovich currently attends Sandwich Secondary School and plays for the local SKY Volley Club.
 
Gravelle has had the opportunity to witness Kristalovich develop over a number of years and believes he will be a good fit with the Lancers. "Chad has been a standout player for SKY and will bring hard work and determination every day," said Gravelle. "His outstanding character will also be an asset to our team and our school community. Chad can play both outside hitter or libero and has excellent control of the ball."
 
Kristalovich heard great things about his local institution and will study human kinetics in the fall. "I am super excited to be apart of such an outstanding volleyball program and have the opportunity to grow individually and collectively with such a great group of athletes."


Colin Hutchison is a 6'4 opposite who attends and plays for Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute and the Forest City Volleyball Club. Hutchison has made a tremendous impact with the IDCI helping to lead the Blue Bombers to an OFSAA Antique Bronze and WOSSA Championship in 2019. That same season he was named the team MVP, a 16U all-star, and the IDCI male athlete of the year.
 
"Colin is an athletic lefty who has played multiple positions," said Gravelle. "He is a player with upside who will be given time to develop on the right side.  Having a lefty on the roster who is athletic and can get off the floor is exciting, and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow."
 
Planning to study kinesiology in the fall, Hutchison was blown away on his visit to Windsor. "When I first stepped onto the Windsor campus, I could feel that the university had a foundation built around cooperation and camaraderie," he said. "This was only exaggerated when I met the volleyball team as they don't just treat each other as friends, teammates and a coach, but treat each other as family. This was a big reason for me choosing the University of Windsor to continue my education and volleyball career."
 
Coming to study in the Odette School of Business, Gustavo Siqueira is an outside hitter who will make an immediate impact with the Lancers. Playing for Sesi-SP, one of Brazil's top clubs, Siqueira has captured a national championship, three state championships, and was named an all-state all-star.
 
"Gustavo is an experienced player who turns 21 in the fall and we expect that he will have a big influence on our team," said Gravelle.  "He was the Sesi junior team captain during their Sao Paulo state championship season in 2019. He is a strong passer, he has good size, and can attack from either side of the court. He is also a strong pipe attacker."
 
Siqueura chose Windsor because he wants to play "for one of the greatest teams in Canada."
 
Davi Urtiga also comes to Windsor from Brazil and recently played for Sao Jose Dos Campos. Over the course of his volleyball career, Urtiga has captured many championships including the Parana Cup four times and the Carioca Cup three times, in addition to the Minas Cup Championship and the Wonderful City Cup championship. Urtiga has also brought home two outdoor beach championships twice over his career. 
 
"Davi is currently completing high school and will join us in January 2021," said Gravelle. "He is a top Brazilian junior player and is currently playing for San Jose Dos Campos which is a top junior team in the state of Sao Paulo. He is long and has a very strong all-around game. Davi could be a big difference-maker for our program."
 
Urtiga will also study business alongside Siqueura and is looking forward to the opportunity to study in Canada and play for Coach Gravelle.
