The Windsor Lancers are pleased to have two members of the Lancer men's basketball team recognized amongst the OUA elite, as announced by Ontario University Athletics Thursday.
 
Senior Thomas Kennedy has been named a first-team all-star, while Lorenzo Barbieri has been named to the conference all-rookie team.
 
Kennedy was a force to be reconned with on the court all season. Starting in all 16 games for the blue and gold, Kennedy led the league in total rebounds with 244 – 104 more than the next athlete. He led the league in rebounds per game with 15.3, and was third overall in total points with 357. His field goal percentage of 56.1 put him in fourth in league standings, while placing fifth in points per game with 22.3.
 
The Windsor, ON native now ranks ninth overall on the Lancer all-time scoring list with 1043 career points, and is third overall in total rebounds with 703.
 
"Thomas has worked tirelessly to achieve this league recognition. It was one of his personal goals he wanted to accomplish after our last season," commented head coach Chris Cheng. "I admire his dedication to his craft daily. He is such an inspirational leader for our program. I am so proud of him."
 
This is the third straight season that a Lancer men's basketball player has been named to the OUA all-rookie team. Following in the footsteps of Kennedy (18-19), and Shakeal Pryce (19-20), Barbieri had a tremendous season with the Lancers.
 
Averaging 23.4 minutes a game, the business major had an impressive 22 steals over 15 games played. He averaged 7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
 
"I am so proud of Lorenzo. He was one of promising freshmen going into this season and it showed through his play, his competitiveness, and his ability to defend," said Cheng. "There are still many areas for improvement and he is aware of them. Once he can improve in those areas, I am confident more league awards will come his way."
