The Windsor Lancers are pleased to announce that three members of the Lancer football team have been named to the 2023 East-West Bowl roster.
Â
Running back Chris John, and offensive linemen
Jaxon Morkin and
Anu Una will compete on the West team on May 13th in Hamilton, ON.
Â
"I am proud that these three student-athletes have been named to the 2023 East-West Bowl," said Lancer head coach
Jean-Paul Circelli. "This recognition truly honours all the hard work and dedication that Chris, Anu and Jaxon have put into their training and development."
Â
Coach Circelli on Chris John: "Chris is a triple threat in the offensive backfield as he can run, catch and block all at a high level. His physical and punishing running style easily makes him a fan favourite and a player CFL scouts will be watching."
Â
Coach Circelli on
Jaxon Morkin: "Jaxon has quietly become one of our most reliable offensive lineman over the past few years. He is a force in the weight room, is relentless on the field and displays versatility in being able to line up at all three offensive line positions."
Â
Coach Circelli on Anu (George) Una: "As a team captain, Anu leads the team in workouts and film study. He has displayed incredible athleticism and flexibility for a big man, as well as the versatility to play multiple positions along the offensive line."

RICHMOND HILL, Ont. (U SPORTS) - The table is set for the 2023 East-West Bowl, U SPORTS announced on Tuesday the official rosters for Canadian universities' top football showcase.
Â
The 2023 U SPORTS football prospects game is set for Saturday, May 13 at 1 p.m. ET at McMaster University's Ron Joyce Field in Hamilton.
Â
This is the second straight year that the event has been at McMaster (and the third time overall), and this year marks the 20
th anniversary of the annual all-star contest, which was launched in 2003.
Â
The East-West Bowl showcases – for the most part – players who will be eligible for the following year's CFL draft.
Â
The East side is comprised primarily of student-athletes representing schools from the AUS and RSEQ conferences, as well as Carleton, Ottawa, Queen's, and York. The West contingent is primarily made up of players from Canada West and the remaining OUA universities. Note that some adjustments have been made to balance out the two sides.
Â
The West prevailed in last year's game 11-8, to stretch their lead in the series to 12-6 overall. The West has won the past five games, with the last win by the East in 2015.
Â
The two teams' coaching staffs will be announced, along with any updates to the team rosters, on Friday, May 12.
