Una & Morkin drafted in 2024 CFL Draft

Two members of the Windsor Lancer football team were drafted in the 2024 CFL Draft on Tuesday night.

Offensive lineman George Una was drafted 6th overall in the entry draft by the BC Lions, while Jaxon Morkin was drafted 30th overall in the fourth round by the Edmonton Elks.

At 6'3, Una suited up in 22 games over three seasons with the blue and gold, and this season was named an OUA first team-all star, and the team's offensive line MVP. The Toronto native also took part in the 2023 East-West Bowl along with the other top draft eligible players.

A native of Windsor, Morkin played 28 games over the last four seasons for the Lancers. In the 2023 East-West Bowl in Hamilton, Morkin put up 28 reps of the 225-pound bench press weight.

"I'm really proud of our student-athletes, how they performed at the combine and making the most of their opportunities," said Lancer football head coach Jean-Paul Circelli. "These fine young men have laid the groundwork for our program's success, which has now lead to national recognition. They have also helped to cultivate a culture of excellence, which has lead to improved confidence amongst our younger student-athletes and demonstrated that professional football is an attainable goal."
