Quanz earns OUA bronze and women silver, men place fourth at OUA Cross Country Championships

The University of Windsor Lancers cross country teams earned a pair of top-four finishes, including second place for the women, at the 2025 OUA Cross Country Championships in Kingston, Ont. at Fort Henry on the afternoon of Saturday, October 25.

WOMEN'S RESULTS
The Lancer women earned a silver medal with a second-place finish, their fourth team medal in program history. Windsor was led by Samara Quanz, who earned herself a bronze medal individually. The fourth-year runner capped off a remarkable season with a time off 27:46.4 in the 8km race, resulting in her best finish of the season and a medal to show for it.

Joelle Olla placed eighth with a time of 28:19.3 to continue her string of top-ten finishes this season. Natalie Fortier rounded out the top ten with a time of 28:20.2 for tenth place. Quanz, Olla, and Fortier were all awarded OUA all-star honours.

Windsor tied with Queen's for first place with 70 team points, but fell to second place in a tiebreaker. All Lancer runners finished within the top 40 spots out of 124 total runners. Ainsley Rocheleau and Sian Kniaziew placed 24th (29:21.4) and 25th (28:21.7), respectively, with Maren Kasunich (29:48.6) and Natalie Adam (30:00.1) rounding out the group. The Lancers improve upon last year's seventh-place finish at the OUA Championships and make history with just their fourth-ever provincial medal.

MEN'S RESULTS
The Lancer men had a strong showing on the afternoon, finishing fourth and improving upon last year's fifth-place result.

Jacob Fitzpatrick and Noah Costa continued to lead Windsor as they have done all season, with Fitzpatrick placing fifth (23:51.5) and Noah Costa sixth (23:55.2), both with impressive sub-24 minute times. Both Fitzpatrick and Costa runners were named 2025 OUA All-Stars.

Abdullahi Abdullahi (24:46.7) finished 22nd, James Wheeler (24:58.2) in 30th, which earned him the OUA men's rookie of the year award to cap off an exceptional rookie season, Andreas Pardalis (25:21.0) at 36th, Kade Campbell (25:43.9) placed 45th, and Adam Kleinsmith (26:50.7) closed out the Lancer squad with a 67th-place finish.
