WINDSOR, ON – The University of Windsor's Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Todd Warriner as the interim head coach of the Lancer women's hockey program.

A Blenheim, Ontario native and accomplished hockey professional, Warriner brings a wealth of playing, coaching and leadership experience to the role. A first-round selection in the 1992 NHL Draft, he enjoyed a 14-year professional career, appearing in more than 450 NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Phoenix Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Nashville Predators.

Also experienced behind the bench, Warriner most recently served as head coach in the Oberliga and DEL2 leagues in Germany from 2023-26. He was named Oberliga coach of the year in 2025 with the Tilburg Trappers, leading the team to a 32-9-3 (W-L-OTL) record.

"We are excited to welcome Todd as our interim head coach of Lancer women's hockey," said Director of Athletics Stephanie White. "His experience at the highest levels of hockey, including his skill development knowledge and his understanding of what it takes to build a successful culture will be invaluable to our student-athletes. His coaching experience, as well as his knowledge of our Lancer programs will allow him to positively impact our women's hockey program both on and off the ice."

Internationally, Warriner was a Canadian Olympian, having competed with the Canadian national team at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympic Games. He was also a member of the Canadian team that won the 2005 Deutschland Cup.

He is no stranger to the Lancers program, having previously served on the Lancer men's hockey coaching staff where played an integral role in player development. His familiarity with the University of Windsor, combined with his extensive hockey background and strong ties to the Windsor community, positions him well to lead the program into the upcoming season.

"I am really excited for the opportunity to get to work with this talented group of student-athletes and to help continue to move this program forward," said Warriner.

As interim head coach, Warriner will oversee all aspects of the Lancer women's hockey program, including player development, game preparation and day-to-day team operations as the Lancers prepare for the 2026-27 OUA season.
