Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team turned in a dominating performance on opening night as they easily defeated the York Lions 94-55 at the St. Denis Centre.
With the victory, the #8 ranked Lancers move to 1-0 in conference play.
Against York, Coach Oliver's squad got off to a fast start as they knocked down some open shots from the outside and got some solid low post scoring as well.
Isaac Kuon was hot early as his13 first half points sparked a 41-21 lead at the break.
The second half was more of the same as the Lancers continued to dominate in all areas of the game. There transition game was particularly effective as they took advantage of York's 16 turnovers throughout the game.
Windsor would go on to outscore York 33-19 in the third quarter as they cruised to the 94-55 victory.
For the Lancers, veterans
Isaac Kuon,
Andre Smyth and Nigel Johnson-Tygther didn't disappoint as Kuon finished with a game-high 20 points, Smyth added 14 points and 9 rebounds and Johnson Tygther chipped in with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
Monty Hardware also had a strong game as he finished with 14 points on 5 of 9 shooting, including 4 of 7 from long range.
The freshmen trio of
Josh Collins,
Enrico Diloreto and
Lien Phillip also had a solid debut as Collins finished with 12 points and 9 assists, Diloreto added 8 points and 4 rebounds and Phillp had 6 points and 5 rebounds.
Windsor dominated on the glass as they outrebounded the Lions 43-30 in the game. The Lancers also forced 16 York turnovers and shot 54% from the field in the game.
The Lancers will be back in action on Saturday night as they host the Laurentian Voyaguers at 8pm at the St. Denis Centre.
