Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team bounced back with a dominating 87-65 victory over the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday night at the St. Denis Centre.
With the victory, the #9 nationally ranked Lancers move to 11-5 on the season and back within one game of the conference lead in the OUA West Division standings.
On Saturday night, the Lancers got off to a good started against the visiting Thunderwolves as veteran
Isaac Kuon made his presence known early on. Kuon knocked down the game's opening basket and helped stake the Lancers to the 21-15 first quarter lead.
In the second quarter, the post combination of
Nigel Johnson-Tyghter and
Lien Phillip started to take over as they outmuscled their opponents inside. Johnson-Tyghter had three 3-point plays in the quarter while Phillip added an emphatic dunk just before the half as the Lancers took the lead into the locker room.
The second half was all Windsor as they showcased a lethal offensive attack and sound defensive pressure against the Thunderwolves.
Lakehead struggled to shoot the ball as the Lancers increased their lead to 66-52 after three quarters of play.
The Lancers opened the fourth quarter on a 17-5 run to put the game away as they cruised the convincing 87-65 victory.
In the win,
Isaac Kuon and
Nigel Johnson-Tyghter combined for 24 and 21 points respectively.
Lien Phillip also had another strong game as he finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Josh Collins added 8 points and 4 assists.
The Lancers will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host the Guelph Gryphons at the St. Denis Centre. Tip-off is set for 8pm.
