Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team used a late run to propel them to a 77-72 victory over the Western Mustangs on Wednesday night at the St. Denis Centre.
With the victory, the #7 ranked Lancers move to 7-2 in conference play this season.
On Wednesday night, the visiting Mustangs got off to a fast start as they used some solid outside shooting to take a 20-14 lead after one quarter of play.
The Mustangs continued to execute well on offense in the second as they built a 10-point lead in the quarter.
However the Lancers battled back with some tough defense and a couple big steals to cut into the Western lead.
Isaac Kuon knocked down a three-pointer and a couple of late baskets from Nigel Johnson-Tygther reduced the Western lead to 35-32 at the break.
After the break, Windsor began to find their rhythm on offense as they used solid transition play and some strong post play to take a 51-49 lead after three.
The fourth quarter was a hard fought battle as the Mustangs recorded a couple of key baskets late to take a 69-67 lead with only 1:30 remaining.
From there, rookie point guard Josh Collins took over as he knocked down a tough three pointer from deep in the corner followed by a floater in the lane to give the Lancers a 72-69 lead with a minute to play.
Western tried to foul to regain possession, but the Lancers made their foul shots down the stretch to hold on for the 77-72 victory.
For Windsor, Josh Collins had a strong game as he finished with 18 points on 6 of 10 shooting to go along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
Isaac Kuon led all scorers with 23 points while Nigel Johnson-Tygther finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds.
The Lancers will be back in action this Saturday night as they host the Brock Badgers at the St. Denis Centre. Tip-off is set for 8pm.
