Box Score 2 The No. 7 Windsor Lancers dropped a pair of road games this weekend with losses to Toronto and York.
The Lancers are now 7-5-0 on the year and sit in 5th place in the OUA.
On Saturday against Toronto, the Blues went up by two midway through the game when rookie forward Amanda Ricker tipped a Brittany Kirby point shot into the net.
The Lancers would get on the board before the second period ended when first-year forward Candace Chevalier skated down the right wing and sent a booming shot over the glove of Toronto goaltender Nicole Kesteris and into the net.
The Blues held a 2-1 lead heading into the final frame.
Toronto added an insurance goal as they beat a Windsor defenceman and gained a 2-on-0 opportunity. The Blues sent a beautiful pass across to Brenley Jorgensen who shot the puck into the open net for the 3-1 win.
Chevalier continued to dominate the Lancer scoreboard on Sunday against the York Lions, as she scored both of the Lancer goals in Windsor's 3-2 loss to the Lions.
The first period was intense for both teams with very few breaks in play. The Lions scored early in the game and held a 1-0 lead heading into the second period, despite being outshot 22-4 in the period.
York took a 2-0 lead before Chevalier scored her first of the game to bring Windsor within one.
Late in the third, Chevalier scored her second of the game to tie the game at two with seven minutes remaining. The Lions fired back two minutes later with the eventual game winner, earning the win.
Kasey Martin made 16 saves for the Lancers, while York's Sydney McMurter was outstanding in net for the Lions making 46 saves in the win.
Windsor is now back at home for a pair of games against the Waterloo Warriors and Laurier Golden Hawks next weekend at South Windsor Arena.
