Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team clinched a first round bye in the playoffs as they defeated the Guelph Gryphons 84-83 on Wednesday night in Guelph.
With the victory, the Lancers move to 16-5 on the season and now hold a share of first place in the OUA West Division. They are also two games ahead of third place McMaster with only one game remaining and have therefore clinched a bye through the first round of the OUA playoffs.
Windsor will round out the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they host the Marauders at 1pm at the St. Denis Centre.
On Wednesday night, the Lancers got 24 points from
Isaac Kuon and 12 points from rookie Enrico Diloreto as they held off a pesky Gryphons team 84-83 in Guelph.
The Gryphons took an early lead over the Lancers and turned in a strong first half as they led 44-36 at the break.
Windsor was able to bounce back in the third quarter as they turned in some inspired play and cut the Guelph lead to 62-60.
The two teams traded baskets throughout the fourth before the Lancers were able to take the lead for good with only five seconds remaining in the game.
Free throw shooting was a big factor down the stretch as Windsor finished 15 of 17 from the line to seal the one point victory.
The Lancers will close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they play host to the McMaster Marauders at the St. Denis Centre. Tip off is set for 1pm.
