The white hot Lancer Women's Hockey team is set to open up the OUA Semi Finals against the No. 2 nationally ranked Laurier Golden Hawks on Thursday in Waterloo.
The Lancers will host game two of the best of three series back in Windsor on Saturday February 27th at 4pm at South Windsor Arena.
Coach Hunter's team is rolling after a huge 3-2 win in double overtime against the No. 7 York Lions in a single game elimination on Saturday. The Lancers now have their sights set on the number two juggernaut Laurier Golden Hawks.
Laurier stole the first two regular season games between the teams; yet the Lancers put an end to the Golden Hawks perfect season on the last game of the regular season with a huge overtime victory that lifted the Lancers into the playoffs.
Since the win the Lancers have been virtually bulletproof as goaltender Jamie Tessier has put the team on her back providing outstanding goaltending. In her playoff debut against York, Tessier has stopped 51 shots while posting a 0.962 save percentage and 1.33 goals against average. All of this coming after stopping 52 shots against Laurier in the last game of the regular season.
The Lancers will be looking to OUA all-star Manon Davis to continue to provide the team with timely offence. The OUA regular season goal scoring leader potted the game winner against the Lions on Saturday and is looking to keep her hot hand after her 19 goal regular season.
Be sure to check out game two as a part of the Lancers Playoff Palooza on Saturday at 4:00pm at South Windsor Arena. Tickets for the game are $8 for adults and $5 for all students and seniors.
