Men's Basketball ready to take on Carleton in Wilson Cup final

The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team (17-5) is headed back to the Wilson Cup for the first time since the 2006-2007 season.

For the second time in four years, the Lancers captured the OUA West division crown last Saturday as they knocked off a very tough Lakehead Thunderwolves team. The Lancers dominated the second place Thunderwolves by a score of 86-66 to capture the West.

Maintaining their status as one of the top ten teams in the country all season long, Coach Oliver's squad appears to be peaking at the perfect time with the OUA Championship game only a week away. 2009-10 saw the Lancers go 17-5 on the season to capture the OUA West Division regular season crown.

The playoffs have seen the Lancers continue to roll as they knocked off the Laurier Golden Hawks 87-79 in the OUA West Semi-Final before meeting up with the Thunderwolves last week. The Lancers are now prepared to take on the Eastern division champions, the Carleton Ravens, in a battle for OUA supremacy.

The explosive Lancers have received a very balanced attack this season, lead by a trio of all-stars. Isaac Kuon was named to the OUA first all-star team, while Nigel Johnson-Tyghter was named to the OUA second all-star team. In addition to the two veterans, first year standout Josh Collins was named to the OUA rookie all-star team.

Kuon's dynamic play has been showcased through much of the season, as one of the OUA's most talented scorers; he finished ninth in the province in scoring, averaging 18.1 points per game.  His touch around the rim has made him a threat on the court all season long.

Heading into the OUA Championship the Lancers have already punched their ticket for the CIS National Championship later this month, however are not satisfied with sneaking in the back door. The team will need to receive contributions from their talent rich squad if they are to knock off the defending OUA Champions, and number two ranked Carleton Ravens
