The Lancer men's volleyball team was swept by McMaster and Guelph in a weekend road trip.

On Friday against McMaster, Windsor rallied late in the game, but was unable to grab the win, falling 3-2 (25-17, 15-25, 23-25, 26-24, 8-15).

Windsor took the first set 25-17, but McMaster responded by taking the next two sets 25-15 and 25-23. The close third set carried over into the fourth and the Lancers used extra points to take set four 26-24. The set up the deciding fifth set, but the Marauders built a lead late in the set and won it 15-8 to secure the match.

Harrison Oake and Kyle Williamson where the top scorers for the Lancers with 18 and 16 points respectively.

Against Guelph on Saturday, the Lancers again were unable to come out on top, falling 3-1 (18-25, 21-25, 25-18, 18-25).

The first set was won quickly by the Gryphons. They held on the pressure throughout the set and met very little resistance from the Lancers. Winston Rosser and Kevin Stewart consistently attacked Windsor's defence, which made for a quick finish 25-18.

The teams were much more evenly matched during the second set. The score rose point by point with Rosser continuing his great play with a number of kills and Harrison Oake doing the same for the Lancers. The Gryphons began giving points away as their defensive skills weakened, and they let Lancer attacks hit the ground without much opposition. Luckily their offensive strength made up for it, and they finished the set 25-21.

In the third, Lancer outside hitter Kyle Williamson dominated and was a major factor in bringing the Windsor team into the lead. Guelph continued to suffer defensively and had a hard time returning any attacks. The Lancers won this set 18-25.

The Gryphons entered the fourth set with new force, and it was clear they were back in the game. Riley McAllister played a major role in the Gryphon's success, as he stabilized Lancer attacks and set up his teammates with perfect opportunities for return. Rosser, Andrew Revie and James Stamler all took advantage of these plays and helped end the game with a 25-18 finish.

The Lancers were led by Kyle Williamson with 20 total points, 19 kills, and 3 digs. Tied with total points of 10 and 9 kills each, were Jimmy El-Turk and Harrison Oake.

Windsor will host Queen's on Friday night at the St. Denis Centre at 8:00pm. It is also volleyball fan fest, and all minor volleyball teams who wear their jersey receive free admission to the event.
