Windsor tops Western 77-72 in Wednesday night showdown

Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team earned their eleventh victory of the season with a 77-72 win over the Western Mustangs on Wednesday night.

The Lancers got 28 points from Isaac Kuon and 14 points from Lien Phillip in front of a capacity crowd of 1,878 at the St. Denis Centre.

With the victory, Windsor moves to 11-2 in regular season play and remain in first place in the OUA West Division standings.

On Wednesday, it was the visiting Mustangs that got off to the hot start as they built an earl 10-point lead and led 21-13 after one quarter of play.

The Lancers kicked it into gear in the second quarter as they started to use their size inside to cut into the lead. The home team outscored Western 17-10 in the frame to trail only 31-30 at the break.

The second half began with a flurry as Isaac Kuon established his presence at the offensive end. The fifth year senior scored 14 straight points for the Lancers as they took a 50-46 lead.

Windsor continued to hold onto their lead throughout the fourth quarter and extended it to ten points, 66-56 with three minutes remaining.

The Mustangs tried to mount a late charge but it was not enough as the Lancers earned the 77-72 victory.

In the win, Isaac Kuon led all scorers with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Lien Phillip finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Josh Collins chipped in with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Lancers will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to St. Catherines to take on the Brock Badgers.
