Windsor rides early lead to win over Ryerson

Box Score Enrico Diloreto recorded a game-high 19 points as the No. 10 Lancers tallied an 83-66 victory over the Ryerson Rams on Friday night.

With the win, the Lancers improve their record to 3-2, in regular season play while the Rams fall to 1-4 on the year.

Windsor took a 17-8 lead midway through the opening quarter after Lien Phillip dropped seven points early on and Diloreto tallied five straight. After a Ryerson timeout, Windsor scored seven more, in addition to a three by Jahmal McQueen to give them a 17-point lead.

Ryerson then hit back-to-back threes after that, cutting the lead to 14 in response.

After building a 20 point lead early in the second, the Rams went on a 17-2 run in the middle portion of the second quarter to reduce Windsor's lead to single digits.

Windsor went on a mini-run in the final moments of the first half to restore a double digit advantage, heading into the locker room up 43-32.

The two teams traded points to open the second half before Windsor broke away to build a 16 point lead, en route to a 20 point spread, 66-46, heading into the final quarter.

The teams played an even fourth quarter, continuing to trade points which proved optimal for Windsor. Ryerson had trouble mustering momentum throughout the stanza, as each of their buckets was swiftly answered by the Lancers as they cruised to victory.

In addition to Diloreto's 19 points, three other Lancers reached double-digits. Jahmal McQueen finished with 15 points, while Josh Collins had 12 points and Lien Phillip had 10 points to go along with a team high 7 rebounds.

Windsor will take to the court tomorrow night as they face the Toronto Varsity Blues at 8:00pm at Varsity Centre.
