Box Score 2 The Lancer men's hockey team split a pair of weekend games with the York Lions in Toronto.
The Lions took the first game 3-2 on Friday night, before the Lancers rebounded on Saturday with a 5-3 win.
Windsor heads into the final weekend of competition before the holidays with a 8-8 record to sit in fourth place in the OUA West division.
In Saturday's win, Windsor went up 1-0 with
Ryan Green's eighth goal of the season on the power play. Assists were credited to
Cory McGillis and Spencer Pommels.
The Lions built a one goal lead heading into the second period with a pair of goals from Jordan Davies and Troy Barss in the last six minutes of the period.
Mark Thorburn tied the game at two on a pass from
Adam Feniak and
Derek Lanoue at 15:14 of the middle period.
However, the Lions would regain the lead just thirty seconds later with a quick shot from Myles Barbieri on Lancer goaltender
Parker Van Buskirk.
The third period was all Windsor as they scored three unanswered goals en route to the win.
Evan Stibbard scored his seventh of the year to tie the game at 2:49 of the period. Just a minute and a half later, Lanoue scored the eventual game winner on Lions goaltender Andrew Perugini.
On the power play, Stibbard secured the win for Windsor with his second of the period at 12:22 of the period.
Van Buskirk had a solid night in net with 27 saves to earn the win. Perugini also made 27 saves for the Lions in the loss.
The previous night, the Lions build a three goal lead en route to their 3-2 win in game one of the weekend doubleheader.
Down by three at the midway point of the second period, Spencer Pommels spoiled Perugini's shut-out with a power play goal at 16:32 of the period.
Windsor brought the game within one early in the third period with
Brett Oliphant's fourth of the year.
Despite a number of chances, the Lancers were unable to penetrate Perugini in net to take the loss.
Windsor will close out the first half of their season with a final road game next Saturday against the Waterloo Warriors.
