Box Score 2 The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team rounded out the first half of their 2011-12 regular season with a home series sweep of the Queen's Gaels and RMC Paladins at the St. Denis Centre.
With the victories, the Lancers move to 5-3 in conference play.
On Saturday night. Windsor earned a 74-56 win over Queen's. The Lancers were led by
Lien Phillip who finished with another double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
The Lancers jumped out to an early 10-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The increased their lead to 14 points at the break as they led 42-28.
Josh Collins had another solid performance as he finished with 15 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds and controlled the play throughout the game from the point guard position. Windsor played for the second straight game without shooting guard
Enrico Diloreto who was out with an injury.
In the second half, the Gaels tried to cut into the Lancer lead in the third quarter but were unable to overcome the dominant inside play and rebounding of
Lien Phillip.
Coach Oliver's team extended their lead in the fourth quarter and cruised to the 74-56 win. Rookies Junior Osuntola and
Adem Said also had strong games as they finished with 11 points and 10 points respectively.
On Friday night, led by Anthony Ottley's 13 points and 11 rebounds, the Lancers dominated the RMC Paladins en route to a 89-51 victory on Friday night at the St. Denis Centre.
After building a commanding lead in the opening half, the Lancers doubled up on the Paladins 40-20 in the second half to secure the victory.
In addition to Ottley, Windsor was led by Junior Osuntola and
Jahmal McQueen who finished with points 11 points apiece.
Lien Phillip led the Lancers on the glass with 12 rebounds.
The Lancers will now break for exams and the holidays and will resume conference play in January.
