Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team held off a pesky McMaster Marauders squad 77-73 on Wednesday night at the St. Denis Centre.
With the victory, the Lancers improve to 15-6 in conference play and remain in second place in the OUA West Division.
The Lancers got a strong performance from
Lien Phillip who finished with 13 points and 16 rebounds to hold off the Marauders for the win.
Wednesday evening's game was also Senior Night as the Lancers paid tribute to their three graduating seniors
Monty Hardware,
Andre Smyth and
Isaac Kuon.
After a slow start by both teams, Windsor built a slight three-point lead, 17-14 after one quarter of play.
The Marauders responded with a big second quarter as they outscored Windsor 25-15 to take a seven-point halftime lead, 39-32. McMaster's Kenan Etale led the way as he penetrated the Lancer defense for a number of quality baskets.
The third quarter saw both teams go back and forth as McMaster maintained their single digit lead throughout the frame, 56-48.
In the fourth was where the Lancers came to life as they began to work the ball inside to
Lien Phillip as well as knock down some open outside shots.
Windsor was able to eliminate the deficit and tie the game at 70-70 with a minute remaining in the contest.
In the final minute, the Lancers converted their free throws and played some tenacious defense to earn the hard fought 77-73 victory.
In addition to Phillip's strong game, the Lancers got 12 points and 4 assists from
Josh Collins and 14 points from
Enrico Diloreto.
Isaac Kuon also added 20 points.
The Lancers will travel to Guelph on Saturday for their final regular season game of the season against the Gryphons.
From there, they will get a bye through the OUA West Quarter-Finals and will then host the OUA West Semi-Finals on Saturday, February 26th @ 7pm at the St. Denis Centre.
