Men's Basketball falls 97-94 in overtime to Gryphons

Isaac Kuon had 39 points in the loss to Guelph on Thursday night.
Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team was defeated 97-94 in overtime by the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday night at the St. Denis Centre.

The game was a re-scheduled contest that was postponed due to weather from the previous night.

With the loss, the Lancers fall to 11-6 in conference play.

On Thursday, both teams came out flat, as evidenced by the 14-13 score in favour of the Gryphons at the end of one quarter.

The second quarter cotninued to remain close as neither team was able to pull away from the other. Guelph led 41-38 at the break.

After half, both teams picked up their offensive production as the game remained close.

With the Gryphons leading 65-60 heading in the final quarter, the Lancers battled back to tie the game late in the quarter.

However, with Guelph leading by 3 with seconds remaining, the Lancers knocked down a deep three to send the game into overtime.

The extra frame was controlled by the Gryphons as they held of the Lancer attack to earn the hard fought 97-94 overtime win.

Isaac Kuon led Windsor in scoring with 39 points while Lien Phillip added 14 points and 9 rebounds.

The Lancers will be back in action on Saturday when they host the Laurier Golden Hawks at 1pm at the St. Denis Centre.
