Lancers drop 3-1 decision to York

Box Score TORONTO- The Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-22,27-29,19-25,7-25) decision to the York Lions on Saturday afternoon in their first game of their weekend road trip.

Adam Thompson had a team-high eight kills and 12 points in a losing cause for the Lancers, who drop to 0-3 on the season. Greg Simone tallied six kills and Andrew Chelladurai notched 30 assists and a team-best 12 digs for Windsor, while Ray Szeto had a monster afternoon for the Lions, tallying a game-high 26 kills. The Lions improve to 4-1 with the victory.

The Lancers got off on the right foot with an opening set victory, but after a tightly contested second set that was eventually taken by the home side, Windsor had trouble gaining momentum throughout the rest of the contest. The Lions snuffed out any hope of a comeback by jumping out to a 9-2 lead early in the fourth set. They only added to the spread in securing their fourth win of the year.

The men will look to clinch their first win of the season tomorrow afternoon when they head to North Bay to take on the Nipissing Lakers. Game-time is set for 2:00 p.m.
