Windsor knocks off Lakers for first win

Gabriel Burlace tallied a game-high 12 kills to lead Windsor to its first win of the season over Nipissing on Sunday.
Box Score NORTH BAY, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team notched their first win of the 2013-14 campaign on Sunday afternoon, as they defeated the Nipissing Lakers in straights sets (25-14, 25-15, 25-18).

Gabriel Burlacu and Shawn Reaume recorded 12 and 11 kills respectively to lead Windsor to victory, while Andrew Chelladurai racked up 32 assists for the Lancers. Reaume led all players with 10 digs, and rookie Alexander Vukolic tallied three solo blocks, also a game-high.

Frank Edgecombe led the Lakers with six kills on the afternoon. Nipissing, still gettings its feet wet as a new entrant to the conference this season, stands at 0-6 on the year thus far.

The Lancers (1-3) are tied for eighth-place in the OUA coming out of this weekend's matches. The men begin a four-game home-stand next weekend when they welcome the rival Western Mustangs to the St. Denis Saturday on Sunday afternoon. Game-time is set for 3:00 p.m.
