Windsor suffers losses to Western, McMaster

Box Score LONDON, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team lost in straight sets to Western and McMaster on the road this weekend to open their New Year conference schedule.

The men lost 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-20) to the Mustangs on Saturday evening in their first conference match of 2014.

Chad Hinchey led Windsor with nine kills, while veteran Scott Hickman and Gabriel Burlacu each added seven points in a losing cause for the men, who garnered a .170 hitting percentage. Andrew Chelladurai picked up 30 set assists and Shawn Reaume had a team-best six digs.

The hosts worked at a .308 efficiency and were guided to victory by Garrett May who had a game-high 16 kills.

HAMILTON- In their second match of the weekend, Windsor lost in three-straight (25-18, 25-21, 25-21) to the defending OUA champion Marauders on Sunday afternoon. 

Greg Simone led the Lancers with seven kills and 10.0 points, while Hinchey chipped in with five kills. Blase Wasser led all players with seven digs on the afternoon, and Andrew Chelladurai totalled 20 set assists for Windsor (4-8), who are now in a three-way tie for sixth-place in the conference.

The Marauders (12-0) sit comfortably atop the OUA, holding a three-game lead over second-place squads Waterloo and Western.

Windsor will look to halt their three-game losing streak next weekend against the Queen's Gaels and RMC Paladins. Both games take place at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evening respectively.
