Box Score WINDSOR, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team battled, but came up just short against the visiting Queen's Gaels on Friday evening at the St. Denis Centre, falling to the visitors in five sets (25-17, 18-25, 21-25, 25-18, 14-16).
Saturday is Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the St. Denis Centre. "Get Your Pink On" t-shirts will be on sale for $10 during the basketball and volleyball double-headers and at South Windsor Arena at the men's hockey game.
It was the second time in a row that the Lancers lost to the Gaels in five sets, as Queen's was able to squeak out a victory in Kingston, Ont. on November 30 in the teams' final conference game before the holidays. That was the start of the men's current four-game losing streak which they will look to snap on Saturday night against RMC.
Scott Hickman picked up a team-high 14 kills and game-best 5.0 total blocks for 19 points, while
Greg Simone recorded 11 kills for the Lancers, who drop to 4-9 on the year and sit tied for eighth-place in the OUA. With the win, Queen's was able to put some distance between themselves and the teams chasing them for the final playoff spot in the conference. The Gaels sit at 6-7, holding down sixth-place in the league. Mike Tomlinson grabbed a contest-high 23 kills and 26.5 points to help Queen's to their third victory in their past four contests.
The Lancers garner a 2-5 home record, and will look to turn the tide on Saturday on Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the St. Denis Centre. They will attempt to do so against the winless RMC Paladins (0-13). The game is set to begin at 8:00 p.m. and will be available live online at
