The Windsor Lancers men's basketball team continued their impressive pre-season play as they completed their Canada West road trip undefeated with three impressive wins over quality CIS opponents.
Coach Oliver's squad earned victories over Fraser Valley, Thompson Rivers and UBC to move to 6-0 in pre-season play this year.
In game one, the Lancers earned a hard fought 57-56 win over the University of Fraser Valley Cascades. Veteran forward
Brad Parker had a big tip-in in the final seconds to help give Windsor the game one victory.
Rotimi Osuntola Jr. led the Lancer scoring attack as he finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds while
Evan Matthews added 11 points.
Windsor followed up in game two with an impressive 91-61 win over Thompson Rivers University. The Lancer controlled the game from the opening tip as they defended well and forced 28 turnovers in the game. All nine players scored for Windsor as
Rotimi Osuntola Jr. again led the way with 18 points and 8 rebounds while
Khalid Abdel-Gabar and
Alex Campbell each added 17 points apiece.
In their final again out west on Saturday, the Lancers continued their strong early season play as they knocked off the UBC Thunderbirds 90-87 at UBC.
Rotimi Osuntola Jr. was outstanding again as he recorded 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way.
Khalid Abdel-Gabar added 17 points and 6 assists while
Alex Campbell finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Mitch Farrell also had a solid outing as he finished with 16 points.
Windsor will be back in action on Tuesday, October 21 at 1:15pm as they tip-off against NCAA D3 Wittenberg University in a special school promotion at Academie St. Cecile. The Lancers will be speak to the student body prior to the game about tolerance, unity and being part of a team and then take to the court afterwards to take on Wittenberg College.
