Lumley, Downes named to Team Canada coaching staff

Track & Field head coach Brett Lumley and assistant coach Kurt Downes have been named to the Canadian coaching staff for the 2016 IAAF World Junior Championships, as announced by Athletics Canada.

Lumley will serve as head coach while Downes will serve as jumps and combined events coach for the Canadian team at the championships, which will take place in July 2016. A location for the event is still being determined as Kazan, Russia, the original host of the event, had to back out.

"It is a tremendous honour to once again represent my country at such a prestigious meet," Lumley said. "I am excited to work with some of the best athletes in the country and to show the world what we can do."

This is the fifth time that Lumley has represented the Red & White, having previously been a part of national team staff at the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships, the 2001 World Youth championships, and the 2007 & 2009 FISU World University Games
